Sermon Notes

Today we are returning to our series on the armor of God from Ephesians 6. All the pieces of armor we have looked at have been defensive and needed for protection. The belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, sturdy sandals of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith and helmet of salvation were all needed to protect the soldier from attacks of the enemy. And they are all needed to protect us from the deceit, lies, and accusations of our spiritual enemy.

But the Roman soldier would have never gone into battle without an offensive weapon, particularly a small sword important in hand to hand combat.

This morning we will look at how we can use the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God to counter the attacks of the enemy who is trying to discourage and wound us emotionally and spiritually. There is power in the Word of God when spoken.
