Sermon Notes

So far in our series on the armor of God from Ephesians ch. 6, we have looked at the importance and significance of the belt of truth, God’s word, the breastplate of God’s own righteousness that has been placed into our account, and the studded sandals of the gospel of peace that comes from being in a restored relationship with God.

This morning’s message is on the shield of faith. There were two shields used by Roman soldiers. The one Paul is referring to was quite large, fully protected the soldier as well as the other pieces of armor, and quenched the fiery arrows of the enemy.

How does our faith do the same in the spiritual realm? None of the other parts of the armor will function properly without faith; without a confident trust that what they represent is true.
